Greg Anderson

Greg has been a principal of Northington Partners for over 15 years and is now the Managing Director of the business. In that time, he has managed M&A and capital raising processes across a range of sectors including technology, construction and agri-business. Greg has also been retained by publicly listed companies, large scale private companies, and State Owned Enterprises to provide advice in relation to strategy, capital structure, valuation and general corporate finance issues.

Recent Experience

  • Adviser in relation to a pre-IPO capital raise for Straker Translations Limited, a New Zealand based global leader in technology based translation services.
  • Appointed to manage the implementation of a settlement agreement between ANZ Bank and the Commerce Commission in relation to the sale of interest rate swaps to rural customers.
  • Adviser to University of Canterbury in relation to its post-earthquake financial position and the subsequent $260m capital injection from the Crown.
  • Provision of Independent Adviser’s reports for Scott Technology (scheme of arrangement), Lyttelton Port Company (full takeover offer), EBOS Group (acquisition of Symbion Pty).
  • Promotor and financial adviser in relation to a new $200m irrigation and hydro development.

Mark has over 15 years’ experience in the finance and investment banking industry, working in analysis and transaction execution roles. He joined Northington Partners after working for Macquarie Group in Sydney for nine years, where he was responsible for leading transaction teams in the merger and acquisition of proprietary businesses for the Banking and Securitisation Group. As a Director within this group, he was responsible for originating, negotiating, structuring and executing financial transactions, typically involving cross-border parties. Since joining Northington Partners, Mark has been involved in the execution of a wide range of advisory mandates, M&A deals and capital raising transactions.

  • Valuation advice to the Värde, KKR and Deutsche Consortium in relation to its $7.4b acquisition of GE Finance.
  • On-going advice to a Christchurch based technology business in relation to its capital raising options, including potential IPO on the NZX.

Jonathan joined Northington Partners in January 2016, after more than 10 years in investment banking with Forsyth Barr in Auckland and a year in the UK. Jonathan has worked on a wide range of advisory and capital market roles, including a number of recent IPO’s and complex M&A transactions (buy-side and sell-side) with experience in sectors including health and aged care, technology and software, mining, oil and gas, agriculture and industrials. He has been involved in all aspects of deal origination, structuring and execution.

  • Arranger and Sole Lead Manager on the $329m M&A transaction of 17 retirement villages to create Arvida Group and subsequent NZ$80m IPO.
  • Joint Arranger on the Acquisition of Symbion by EBOS Group for NZ$1,095m and Joint Arranger and Underwriter to the associated NZ$239m placement & rights issue by EBOS Group.
  • Adviser and lead manager to Arvida Group on the $62m acquisition of 3 Auckland retirement villages and associated $35m placement and share purchase plan.
  • Lead manager on the $27m IPO of SLI Systems.
  • Adviser to Ports of Auckland on various transactions including a $500m bank tender, the takeover by Auckland Regional Holdings and the sale of the western reclamation tank farm to Auckland Council.
  • Arranger to Mighty River Power for its $300m capital bond offer.

Ricky Meyers is a director in the Debt Advisory team. Ricky has more than 25 years of senior leadership and deal experience across the Corporate, Institutional & Property banking sectors through his time with ASB and Westpac in New Zealand. He has extensive knowledge of these markets, strong credit risk skills and technical product knowledge to satisfy complex banking requirements.

Recent Experience

  • Led the ASB Corporate relationship team, increasing market share from 8% to 16% over a 5 year period while maintaining customer satisfaction and risk metrics.
  • Originated, structured, negotiated and, where relevant, syndicated Westpac Institutional Bank corporate, leveraged and project-finance debt opportunities.
  • Led the Westpac NZ Property Finance team through the Global Financial Crisis, a time that particularly impacted the property development sector.

Marcus Henderson is a director in the Auckland office and has 8 years’ experience successfully leading all aspects of venture capital and private equity investments into disruptive and scalable businesses operating in the UK, European, North American and APAC markets. Prior to this, Marcus began his career working in consultancy and corporate finance with Deloitte UK, where he worked on several large projects and complex M&A transactions involving several multinational corporations and private equity firms including Hellman & Friedman, Montagu Private Equity, Lloyds Development Capital, Bridgepoint Private Equity, Remy Cointreau Group, Chanel, Wood Mackenzie, Aviva Insurance, Siemens, and Menzies Aviation. His investment and advisory experience spans many sectors including software and technology, property and construction, primary industries, light manufacturing, logistics and transportation, consumer goods, education, and financial services.

  • Led fundraising and investment into Current Health for Par Equity (Acquired by Best Buy Inc in Oct-21).
  • Led fundraising and investment into DeltaDNA for Par Equity (Acquired by Unity Software in Sep-19).
  • Led the initial external investment and spin-out of Snappy Shopper from MTC Media for Mercia Asset Management Plc (now valued at over $100m).
  • Supported and participated in Par Equity’s investment into Symphonic Software (Acquired by Ping Identity in Nov-20).

Pedro has over 15 years’ corporate finance experience providing advice to a diverse range of businesses on mergers and acquisitions, valuation, and financial modelling. Prior to joining Northington Partners, Pedro held roles in the Corporate Finance teams at Deloitte and Moore in Portugal and in a boutique corporate advisory firm in Australia. Pedro has experience across multiple industries with a particular focus on consumer products, retail, manufacturing, technology and business services, as well as cross border transactions.

Toby joined Northington Partners in 2021 after more than five years at Genesis Energy in energy trading, treasury, and corporate finance. Prior to Northington, he was part of David Pieris Holdings’ New Initiatives team and was tasked with analysing various M&A opportunities. Previously, Sunen has held positions at Capital Alliance Securities (Colombo) and Century City Developments in Wellington. Nick joined Northington Partners in November 2023 from KPMG NZ where he had previously completed two internships in the Tax Advisory team and a further internship in the Corporate Finance team before joining the Corporate Finance team full time as a Graduate in 2022. He was responsible for assisting on a wide number of engagements including valuations, financial modelling, impairment testing and cost of capital estimates. Nick completed a conjoint degree in Commerce and Property at the University of Auckland. Nick has a deep interest in the financial world, particularly the equity capital markets.

  • Valuation experience includes business valuations, intangible asset valuations, option valuations and LTI scheme valuations using an array of valuation methodologies including discounted cash flow models, earnings multiple methods, binominal option pricing models and Monte Carlo simulations.

In particular, Jesse has supported the origination and execution of transactions, with a focus on research, financial modelling, and due diligence.
